A BIG PORK CHOP

Today, three other colleagues (Keith, Valerie & Jesslyn) and I went to Loyang Point for lunch. Ever since the first day I had been sticking to these ppl for lunch. Sometimes Valerie drives us out, sometimes we take a bus, sometimes we order delivery.

Keith told me he had a so-called-friend at the food court selling western food and it was good.

Last week, we had gone to the Koufu food court, also at loyang pt, to try out another western food stall, HUNGARY JACK. haha (sounds like ~MAD JACK i thought) of course i cant conclude who is copying who or whatsoever. but it was quite bad and we all blacklisted that stall.

So, i wasnt very very positive about today's BERNARD'S KITCHEN. it was situated at a food court at the other end of loyang pt and it looked, more ancient and less clean. but you'll nv know, good food seems to pop up at the more unsightly places. the place wasnt tt bad, just less clean, def. more crowded.

Since there was a recommendation, i decided to try the PORK CHOP which costs $6. a little bit EX but wanted to try. we needed to wait for qt some time, as Keith had informed me previously.

When it arrived, I was quite shocked! it came in a huge portion! okay the plate was big, as per western stalls' plates. There were fries, beans and coleslaw. and of cos the 男主角 Mr Pork Chop. One could normally expect, one "piece", or one plus a small addition. BUT, guess what, it came with THREE pork chops! and individually it wasnt too small either. NICE. great for guys with a big stomach. and Keith's chicken chop was the biggest single-pieve of chicken chop i have ever seen in my life, so big it looked scary. haha.

the taste is not bad too! (better than that hawaiian pork chop i had in white dog's cafe last sunday) and thus, it is highly recommended for ppl looking for food that is value-for-$$ , esp in quantity. Girls with dieting on their minds can share, 2 to 1 chop. =)

RAINING

Except today, the past week has been a very wet one. my colleague claims "raining also got time table one", always rains in the afternoon, and lasts till evening. That day i was about to leave the building to the company bus, and since it is not sheltered, i had to walk in the rain, with my umbrella above my head of course. and just while i was walking in the rain there was lightning and thunder.

Did I ever tell you i was struck by lightning seven times? There was once, I was minding my own business....

LOL. a streak of "fear" and a smile on my face.

Man u Sweeper : BBT

From Soccernet.com:

The one blot on Ferguson's landscape is a chronic absence of defenders.

In addition, Wes Brown and Gary Neville are longer-term absentees, leaving Ferguson desperately hoping John O'shea shrugs off the heel injury that kept him out at the weekend or Evans makes a miraculous recovery knowing unless they both make it, either Fabio Da Silva or Darren Fletcher will be required to fill the right-back berth.

"My options? I panic!" said Ferguson, only half-jokingly when asked what he would do if both his Irishmen were ruled out.

"I suppose I could play Dimitar Berbatov as a sweeper."

totally LOL!

SAVE $$

Anws, i forgot to mention that one of the best things about my current job is that i can save lots of $$!

For one, i am being paid by my agent on a hourly basis. For two, TRANSPORT IS PROVIDED! i save $$$$ for transport. the company bus sends me straight to a bus stop 5 mins walk away from my hse. For three, (if you choose to) catered lunch boxes can be bought from $2 to $3 only! So, it is possible that one employee from this company spends only $2 a day! For four, Kopi-o Kopi-see Teh-o Teh-see are available for free two times a day during tea breaks!

Wooohoo. This company rocks. =]

Soccer Updates

Manchester United 2 - 1 Blackburn Rovers
I watched this match and the man u defense was a little unstable at times, leading to the chances blackburn had. I feel that it was a fine performance from the blackburn side, but we deserved this win. I was quite sad to see a goal conceded as it had been some 14 league games since it last happened, in the arsenal game which i watched too. The first goal from Rooney was a warning to all opponents that he is back, and is as alert and quick as ever. Santa Cruz showed cool and composure with his goal which upon replay, is a very good goal to me indeed. Another blackburn moment which got me to the edge of my seat was the shot that struck the woodwork from Nelson and the follow-up. And of course the moment when Pederson feel down in the pen area. Other than that, the chances created by man u were plenty and the conversion of a free kick by C.Ronaldo was very impressive. I am sure all man u fans are looking fwd to seeing more of this kind of goals from the europe and world player of the year.

Aston Villa 0 - 1 Chelsea
I watched this game as well, and as always, i sided the team playing against Chelsea (since my brother supports Chelsea and he too always supports the team playing against man u LOL.) However, I have to say that the Blues played much better than they have done in previous games. the only goal of the match, was absolute brilliance from Lampard and Anelka. Besides the Ashley Young free kick, Aston Villa did not really look to put the ball past Cech even though they had some good chances and attacks in the second half.

Arsenal 0 - 0 Sunderland
I took a look at the highlights of this game. And sometimes Sunderland even looked more dangerous than Arsenal. Fulop put up quite a few good saves and the only plus point for arsenal is that their latest signing from ZSP performed well on his debut.
( I always thought that Arsenal players had a certain face/look and arshavin fits in to the Arsenal look perfectly! )

Saw the news that Barca lost to Espanyol. haha. quite a shock and i definitely pray that this kinda upsets will not happen to the English champions.

FRIDAY

yesterday, was the 5th day of work. I have to say i'm settling in pretty well, but yday was quite bad in that it was the most tiring and boring day since monday. at about 3 plus i started to drift away. i could not really stay awake or focused as there was only one thing to do, which was too plain SIAN. thus i did a bit of the work, and tried to find means or keeping my eyes open. for once i still had to play a game on my handphone, go toilet n times and watched the seconds pass by. i have to be more alert/ awake for the following months to really survive man.. hope it won't get too bad, too quickly.

speaking of yday, the dept organised a celebration for 3 Feb babies in the pantry, during lunch. i had no idea what was gg on and i followed my colleague Keith down to wait for the rest for lunch, before he got a call and asked me to go up with him, but he would have guessed what it was all about alr.

upstairs, they laid out all the food on the table including canadian pizza, kfc chicken and popcorn chicken, fruits, jelly and chicken wings. it was a bit of 冷场 and stoning session for i only knew ~5 of the ~20 in the room. most are just faces that appear in the office. hahaha. one lady still told me, "等一下你不要吓到啊.." and i was like thinking what are they gg to do to the bday ppl, esp the bday guy (Keith) as the other two are females. they gonna scare him? smash his face into a cake? No idea.

anws, there were so many CAMERAS around and it was 猛拍 TIME! one lady even had a video cam in her hand. then everyone bagan to feast in and enjoyed the food. in total i had three slices of pizza and some pieces of popcorn chicken. thats (OBVIOUSLY) not the 重点. After that, a cake was taken out of the fridge. they placed the candles which are shaped as alphabets, so there were so many candles, forming HAPPY BIRTHDAY. and three more "normal" candles. i was like thinking are they gonna light up all, but the candles were supposed to be "recycled" lol. aka reused. so only 3 were lit up. but that is still not the 重点.

the 重点 is that at this time, someone opened a cabinet and took out 3 plates of "things" and on the first look, i couldn't help but laugh. LOL. it is damn creative and exquisite and detailed and somehow, cute. haha i have never seen anything like this before. maybe some of you have, i definitely have not. i was said to be from the internet, but improvised by the ladies who organised and planned it. on the plates, there were human bodies formed from food! omg. there were two males and one female, gifted to the two females and one male colleagues. amazing stuff! i didnt take photos but it was stunning. haha it got everyone laughing. but it was R-RATED. haha no wonder she warned me 不要吓到啊, as i was youngest one in the room.haha i also 20 yrs old only, cannot watch this R21 stuff. lol.

if i get the photos i will post it. imgaine for now. the head was a fishball, with vegs making up the hair, some chilli and raisins to form the face, asparagus the hands. the main body part is made with two whole fried chicken wings joined tgt with toothpicks at the drumlet part, with the remaining parts of the wings splitting up into two legs. wide open. and of cos the most impt part is the privates. erhem. for the male version, there is a hot dog, erhem. and even have two raisins below them. erhem.and seaweed on top. erhem. and 发菜 on the chest. erhem. for the female one, there are two pineapple tarts, you know, the kind with some herb on top that you have to remove before eating, that incredibly formed the erhem chest. and later one, someone even placed a strawberry on the female versions, between the wings, erhem.

total 疯掉! everyone was just laughing non-stop, stunned by the vivid detailed "model" formed. and 猛拍 and 猛拍. and best of all, the feb babies had to, erhem, eat the hotdog and the pineapple tarts, and the seaweed. hahaha. to think of it it was quit disgusting, but of cos they are all adults and sportingly agreed to all the requests. after eating the cake and all the stuff, the incredible "models" were still on everyones minds as some even played with them and place the male version on the female version.

It was truely an eye-opener for me! i was not 吓到. it was just very interesting, as i answered when ppl asked me. the interesting part is that i tot this kinda things should be played on teenagers and young ppl, in contrast to the room, with 5 guys and 15 ladies. (yes i counted) and those who are the most excited and involved were the ladies, presumingly in their 30s. hmm. interesting indeed!!

and it is commonly understood that the ppl present would think twice before eating fried chicken wings again. or at least eating them would bring a smile on their faces. =]

PATHETIC BENDTNER

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=619600&cc=4716

i thought this was quite pathetic of Nicholas Bendtner to give such comments. never thought he could really make it at all.

SECOND DAY AT WORK

Today was my second day at work and it was not too bad either. feeling more relaxed in office. however, it can be extremely boring when there is no one to get you to help them or to do stuff, just like how i spent a few hours rotting my way in front of my computer, exploring outlook options and changing desktop settings, including hunting a man u wallpaper. lol. i could stand sitting in front of the pc and not surfing the web or pretend to be doing things. haha started walking around, asking ppl for things to do a couple of times.

and i can say that the fav time of the day for me is, using the TYPEWRITER! is that how you spell it. it is absolutely incredible that they are not extinct yet i thought everyone uses the printer!!! it is BIG (only second to the photocopier) lying right beside me. oh my, but it was fun typing on it as it could actually provide a mini "adrenaline rush", because it was quite scary if you type wrongly, the backspace doesnt erase the print totally. it was the most enjoyable time of the day! o.O

FIRST DAY AT WORK

today was my first day at work, and overall it has been a very good experience. from the first time i stepped into the company for my interview two weeks ago to today's HR intro to meeting everyone at the office, it was very smooth, friendly and i was very much at ease..

I started the day with a walk-the-ground around the whole company, and 猛 shake hands with everyone in the office. the dept i am in (aka marketing) is full of colleagues who like to joke and are very warm, taking the initiative to guide me along and tell me more about the company, which helped me a tremendous deal, and dismissed all my previous worries about 冷场 and what-to-do-at-lunch-time. i am indeed grateful. Thank You. =]

And all these falls into place naturally and nicely. me, having dealt with machinery maintenance in the army, esp generator, could relate to the things i have to help generate and file. some terms and the concept was easier to understand with this background. and after watching 未来不是梦 and 随时候命 and me gg into engineering, it was nice to be in such an environment and to take a look at how things are done in a engr company.

the only drawback is that the pc is a bit the old and sometimes the system is hard to understand.

gg to watch superstar now.

and yes. another match closer to a quadruple!

25 THINGS

In view of the recent facebook craze with the 25 things note-writing, a teacher of mine has posted a note that is quite impressive, as of below.Click to view. It surprised me because I didnt expect her to post such a note, although the content is indeed very her.

Clumsy Gummie

woah i have become more and more clumsy these days man! i realised. earlier i was vacuuming the house and the "hose" of the cleaner hooked a tall standing speaker in the living room. as i advanced away form that speaker i felt that the cleaner was gaining weight and within a split second I knocked it down. and my reflex action was to use my leg to cushion its fall. well somehow this always works. i think that this reflex is actually quite interesting as (i guess and assume) most ppl fully siam the falling object so as not to get hurt. perhaps sub-consciously AND consciously i would rather not spoil the object instead. But i believe that this tactic used is quite reasonable as i have succeeded in protecting my stuff with this move. hahaha..

Yeah back to the point that i felt i am clumsier than before. i hope it does not get much worse and the situation can be revived, because i love the feeling of being flexible and in charge, capable of doing so would be impt to me. ppl say that as u grow older the clumsier u get, i definitely hope thats not the reason. haha. perhaps i am really past the peak of youth.

And, i think i cant afford to drop things like knives and weights. xD

SCOLARI SACKED

oh my i was quite surprised when i knew of the sacking of Scolari in the morning. I didnt really like him nor think he would be a great success, but neither did i imagine him being sacked now. haha lets see who chelsea bring in next. luckily, i dun have to worry that Ferguson will be sacked. lol.

Call me again.

my agent who helped apply for my job just called me some minutes ago and informed me that the company wanted to employ me! great. it will commence on 16 Feb, my first day of work. but she have yet settled the $$ part of the deal. hope it will be satisfactory. =] finally some good news yea? lol.

A Show

Whenever i watch this show on tv, and see that person on e screen, it reminds me of someone. the resemblance in facial features adds another level of emotion to watching this show. its a warm, familiar feeling that strikes me.

There would always be a weak spot deep inside.

INTERVIEW

Finally i am being called to a job interview. haha. tmr 1500 @ loyang. i better make it. elaborate more when i get it =]

oh PLEASSEE.....

Assault and Flattery.

last saturday 31 Jan, some of our 77 classmates went to Assault and Flattery, staged by SMU law and tix sold by our dear CT Rep Ms Nang. haha, since we bought the tix some time ago we had to go right? (ps, somehow dun xiang forgot abt it and wasted $20)

Before that, i was the first to reach city hall mrt to meet jh and ke. as mentioned i was the first there and thus i stood at one corner where there were few ppl. then, a man approached me. normally, i would wave no, and say im in a rush or something and 打发他走. ppl asking for interview, selling vouchers. however i was (no idea why) in a very good mood with positive thinking and decided to listen to him. it was also due to an event which happened to my mother last week.

She was alone at home and the bell rang. she peeked out to see some bvss students outside the door. she thought they were would be giving us oranges or something in exchange for ang baos. she she thought about it for a while before gg into her room to prepare some $2 angbaos for them. by the time she returned to the door, they were gone. she called my grandma, who lived one level above us. Grandma told her that some students had also knocked on her door and when she offered them angbaos, they rejected and said they cant take the angbaos. And the students later on left a card outside our door, it was a little handmade card wishing us a happy new year, thats all. because of this suspicion my mum had, time was delayed and the student were unable to complete a simple and warm act. It was sort of touching and sad for the kids in my opinion and my mum regretted waiting, she said she should have opened the door first.

With this in mind, i decided to be more open and less suspicious. so i let him speak and he talked to me a close-to-indian-accent and showed me this paper he had, i could not catch a word hew said, but roughly got the idea that he is trying to say they were helping the jobless find jobs or something like that. i asked him who they are helping and he went on and on, and again, i could not understd what he is saying at all. so he wanted to sell me a pen for $2 or a keychain for $5. i thought, okay lar, just buy a pen from him. then he took out a pen from his bag and then said $4 can? i was like, but u said 2? he said, 2-4 dollars. and i said i wouldnt mind if its $2. then he said okay. and i gave him two bucks for a pen. then i told him "i dun think you are supposed to do this here (MRT station). and he said " yar i know dont worry brother". that swung my mood around and i concluded that it is more or less, a scam. although i didnt really mind, but it still hurts a little.

Thereafter when jh and ke came we went for dinner and later on the play. It was one of the funniest i've seen of a production of a school. haha, there were constant laughs and overall it was a good humourous display, to my liking =]

DHS CNY

backtracking to 28 Jan, i returned to DHS after Ying jie asked me. it was the CNY celebrations on a weird day i thought, as most schools/organisations would have had it on friday. anws, the program seemed much better than it was during my time. perhaps it was because im no longer a student there and i no longer need to sit down there cross-legged, and looking at the school event as an "outsider" more or less anabled it to be more enjoyable. definitely, the emcees were different from our time. we used to have serious ppl on stage using perfect english and mandarin, in a rather serious tone. now, they tell lame jokes and laugh among themselves. it was much more entertaining than it was five years ago though. leads me to feel that the school has sort of transformed to a more hip and fun institution. or maybe its just the generation.

after the performances, we went around looking for teachers. we were looking for 安老师 and finally found her in the staff room. lol, she is diff from how she was in the classroom, being friendlier to us, the old boys and girls. and incredibly after a few minutes and looks she figured out i had a 启in my name! i was quite stunned she rmbr-ed. somehow. haha. i wasnt very prominent, nor good in my chinese (i scored 2/10 once for 听写 and frequently failed tests) but still was not the worst of the lot, nor the best. later on i realised its either one, i was the monitor, or two,
启is too rare to find really.

and after seeing her, mrs tan, mdm loh, mrs phua, ms wong we took a tour around the new school campus, which i alr had a visit @ homecoming on 2nd Jan.

Being back at DHS is a totally different feeling from being back at HCI. I feel more calm and peaceful at DHS. i recall the times when I was still an immature young kid roaming the school and trying to grow up. i like the feeling of the familiar classrooms and foyer and recalling how funny events and ppl were a part of our lives then.

Digestion Problems

The CNY hols had passed for a very long time alr. Thanks to all the goodies, my digestion problems had turned worse over this past week. even 初一 was a bad day for my stomach. now, i frequent the toilet and sometimes feel very bloated. i really hope i recover fast. its quite bad to run to the toilet regularly. now that i'm at home, its still fine but if i'm not it would be a chore. hm.
