JOOO KOOOOON <3<3<3

YES! finally i have been to JOO KOON MRT STATION! LOL.

yday i gathered two other 小白痴s and went on a journey to fufil my wishes, if not fantasy, of JOO KOON MRT STATION! haha.

the reason why im so in love with this joo koon is
  1. since young i have been used to knowing boon lay is the westest mrt station. and now that it suddenly changed to joo koon is a bit weird.
  2. i used to book in and out seeing this mrt stations of pioneer and joo koon and lines being built, but never had the chance to see it "in action". since i have been in that vicinity for one and half years of my life (SISPEC plus 30SCE) im interested to see changes there.
  3. after saying for a few times, "JOO KOON" does sound catchy and nice isnt it?
  4. it is the only mrt stations on the main track (NS and EW) line that i have not been too.
  5. i just wanna act cute and say i wanna go joo koon.
HAHA.

actually, seriously, it is quite a nice place. pioneer and joo koon is very new and thus gives the new feel to it, a little close to like dover station perhaps. its very glassy and classy and the fact that at the time we went there there is very few ppl makes it better and more comfortable.

Anws, yday was a long journey.

Left house at 11 am.

First stop: Bedok mrt station: Went to bedok mrt station to wait for yingjie, who was late to reach tampines station. waited for about 10 to 15 mins den she came. i hopped on the train she was on.

Second stop:Aljunied: den we dropped off at aljunied to wait for the i-am-also-late benjamin. den, we hopped back onto the train to alight at..

Third Stop: Queenstown, where we took a shuttle bus to anchorpoint and den went across the road to ikea.

Fourth stop: IKEA. went there for lunch and also for ben to look for his "glass cylinders to store water o.O" then, we walked over to queensway.

Fifth stop: Queensway. spent some time there but in the end it was obvious i couldnt get what i wanted to get there, so we went over to

Sixth Stop: Anchorpoint. Shopped a while, bought some stuff, den went back to

Seventh Stop: IKEA AGAIN. to eat icecream. hahahahha. After eating we walked back to

Eighth Stop: Queenstown mrt. we boarded a train to.....

Ninth Stop: JOO KOON!!! yes. we made it! or rather I made it! i was at joo koon mrt station! wahahaha. and we started to meng pai, esp me cos it was my dream come true *clap clap clap* =) seriously. i was trying to find a wall which says joo koon and take photos with it but i couldnt find one there! so sad la. the only sign we could find was the one downstairs at the control station, and the one at the platforms.

Thus, i made a decision to start pai-ing LOL. as the sign saying "joo koon" is very high up, a shot was quite difficult to take. thus, either the photographer must take from bottom up, or the model must jump up. haha. we tried both, and managed quite a few good shots i suppose.

haha. u know, ppl love to take this kinda shots. like trying to capture the jump and the moment in air with a camera. ppl do that at sporting events, at the beach, i've seen many of those! but WHO IN THE RIGHT FRAME OF MIND WOULD JUMP AND ZI-HIGH IN A MRT STATION! SIAO! haha.

As such, my love for joo koon proved deep enough to overcome shame and embarrassment. hahah. and i guess i was influencial enough to affect the two others beside me!! XDXDXD

There was this lady stationed at the security post, looking at us (of cos la, anyone who walked past stared at us) i think she did not know how to ask us to go. cos we are not exactly a threat or something but we are like disturbing the "harmony" there. hahaha. and she gradually walked nearer to us but still did not say anything.

Ok, we get her hint, but we continued to meng pai at the platform after that. lol. and after many many shots, another gentleman then came over and reminded us that we have to pay a penalty if we stayed too long within an mrt station. haha. of cos we get his hint as well and since it was about time, with us sweating and all, we boarded the train and left this place of adventure... to..

(the other many many photos are on fb.)

Tenth Stop: Jurong Point. (ok im getting very tired now blogging so i'll be more direct) we walked ard and since yj and ben have not been to JP before, esp with this new extension, they were pretty much stunned of the size of the shopping mall!!! it was huge, i have to say. i have been there before though so i know generally where are the stuff located.

Thus we went around shopping and exploring but finally we were all so damn tired and shagged our legs started to hurt. So much so that ben and yingjie began to do stretching exercises..

THIGH STRETCH IN POSITION READY! EXERCISE BEGIN!
CHANGE SIDEEEEEEEEE CHANGE!

LOL. that was really in my mind when they started to unglamly stretch in front of a huge street directory we found in B1 which we tried to use to find dinner. We settled for crystal jade lamian xiaolongbao. After dinner, took mrt back to...

Eleventh Stop: Tanah Merah. haha. home sweet home.

Its been a long time since i walked so much and travelled so much in one day. its was very tiring but i would say satisfying. cos i spent a lot of money and perhaps deserved a big spender award!!! hahaha.

Oh well, before i reached home my brother sms-ed me that everton scored in the 26th second! hahaha. but of cos, as we all know now, chelsea came back from behind and won FA Cup with a 2-1 win. (as i expected after hearing the news of saha's goal) well, lampard's goal was really damn qiang la! he slipped but in such a short moment regained his balance and scored a screamer with his supposedly weaker foot!

What a packed day!

It's Friday

eh today there was a little more to do and didnt blog, so just to keep up the meng blog trend i shall post an entry here. LOL.

anw, tmr if nothing goes wrong i will be finally going to my "most-wanted" place in singapore, JOO KOON MRT STATION!! weeheee!

i have watched the first two episodes of the ultimatum, and i would say that it is quite interesting. since so much hype was "created" over this show, decided to watch it. i doubt it would be exceptional, but i think it is worth the watch. esp when i have not seen such a kind of singapore drama for some time. previously watching light-hearted ones like "school bag too heavy" aka the school daze and ping ping pang pang..

BAD DAY

today, i had considerably one of the worst days of recent time emotionally.
on a sian day, i have just been dealt another blow, just before knocking off.

First, to start it all off, Man Utd could not perform anywhere near there best in the UCL final in Rome and were outplayed by the spanish champions FC Barcelona. The manner in which they played (less the first 10 minutes) were enough to sink my heart. and in the end i was sort of just waiting to see barca being crowned champions of europe, fully aware a repeat of 1999 was 99% impossible.

Then, i received a sms from a certain someone. which made me a little sad as well. i just cannot communicate well with that person, and it hurts to make me recall once again that i have lost many of my close friends as time fades away.

To add on to the above, i read a blog after lunch and turned nostalgic, but more of EMO in fact. not to mention which blog was that, i was reminded of some past events, which caused a surge in emotion, overwhelming me. i was just "blown off my toes". not in a positive sense, but what i read brought me back to the past. and left me wondering, as of above, why some things can be lost so easily. i pondered upon much.

And, the news of one less celebration was already insignificant by then. It has been some time since i let my emotions run over me.

Last (and i hope last srsly), my colleague found out a mistake in my work. Kai Him isn't a person who likes ppl to think that he is incapable of meeting their expectations, so usually i try my best to exceed their expectations / my expectations of myself. Thus, when i realised i had made such a huge error that could have had some impact on the colleague, i felt really down. Although it was not really my fault as i didn't know, and the colleague did not explain fully, it was still a bad reflection of myself, for myself. zzz. i can feel once again that the colleague was having doubts over me.

.
.
.
.
.

i need something to cheer me up. perhaps the start of this all was just because i never prepared myself for man utd coming out second best. i always thought and believed they could retain the champions league trophy. how funny. im being dictated by a team of ppl i would probably never meet in my whole life.

two out of four

looks like,

out of the four things i thought i would be able to celebrate today,

i can only successfully celebrate two of them.

and the one i would loveeeeeee to celebrate; was not to be in the end..

GLORY GLORY MAN UTD..

a surge of emotions

i feel like i've been overwhelmed by this sudden surge of emotions.

we lost to worthy opponents

well.

man utd definitely didnt play their best football tonight. their potent attack was only threatening in the opening 10 mins. after Eto'o's goal, the team nv managed to muscle their way back into this match.

im certainly sad and disappointed by the result, as the team we all love were not seen on the pitch, and the drama seen in the semis were not present in Rome. it is cruel to see such an end to a magnificent season. Club world cup winners, Carling Cup winners, EPL winners, FA cup semi-finalists. And now, UCL beaten finalists. This was not to be our night.

However, it is comforting to know that we lost to worthy opponents, in barcelona. except for the four penalty claims that were not given to chelsea that could have changed this game to an all-english tie, barca fully deserved the title of Champions of europe. Their beautiful passing game was impressive indeed.

Congrats barca.

And man u, you are still my best team in the world. and we shall show it next season, AGAIN.

We shall be back.

15 more mins

WOW.

as expected, cant really sleep...

haha. kept having the half sleep half awake feel, with the rhythm heaven song running in my brain and hearing plus feeling my own pacy heartbeat.

and thus i woke up 0215, rather than struggling on my bed i decided to surf fb a bit first.

oh please, may i celebrate in two (to three) hours time.

GLORY GLORY MAN UTD!

STUPID GUMMIE

hahaha. damn stupid.
although i always "promoted" the why not me thinking, i had a moment of WHY ME just now.

Just, i picked up my stapler and had two thin stacks of papers to staple. the first shot was on, but on the second i ran out of ammo.

and how stupidly, i thought, "why is it always me [who face this no-more-staple situation] ?"

then i realised, remembered, and smiled foolishly to myself.

aren't i the only one who uses this stapler?

FOUR things to celebrate tmr (hopefully)

If everything goes well, I had planned to be celebrating three things tmr.

Okay, tmr i shall celebrate:

  1. man utd being crowned CHAMPIONS of europe!!! (there is a fairly good chance if we put in our best and defend and score!)
  2. 端午节 (sure can celebrate without any problems)
  3. reaching lvl 27 in Restaurant City! (should not be a problem unless there is maintenance or server connection problems which is happening now)

looks like i've just found the fourth thing, although not my dai-ji hahaha. that is for my friend. good luck, genehow!

EXCITED.

OH MY IM VERY VERY EXCITED.
I WONDER IF I AM ABLE TO SLEEP TONIGHT.
FOR I HAVE A DATE,
WHEN I'M AWAKE..

IN ROME =)

Toe Woes.

I have been suffering quite badly from my toe woes recently. i rmbr i had this problem in jc once, but i didnt seem THAT bad, and it wasnt THAT bad. there were frequent blood stains on my socks but it was under control. i could even play bball then.

and i wonder why. having gone through numerous vest slack runs, SOCs, route marches, parades and other vigorous, physically-draining activities in army, there were no such problems faced. from bmt to sispec to eti to 30 sce to crescendo, my toe had been all right. only in the second year of my service, nearing AHM did i have this problem emerging serious enough for my concern. and after running and training for it for weeks, confident and satisfied to go for it, i had to miss running AHM due to my ingrown toenail (MO gave me excuse footwear) it took quite some time, in the end.

And into February came my worst nightmare (by far w.r.t. toe problems) when ingrown toenail eventually occured on both of my big toes. zzz. and it lasted all the way, until NOW. i believe it was due to my loose boots that i wear to work everyday that caused constant impact and thus damage to my toe.

I refused to visit the doctor, for i didnt really want the doc to cut my nail out. hmm. and so i waited and waited and waited and waited. there were no real signs of recovering until last week, when the pain subsided gradually.

Thus, on saturday, i decided to perform a mini operation on both of my toes. using a nail file and a nail clipper, i slowly, carefully, and with experience dug out part of my nail and cut it off. phew! it was painful, but i could contain that lvl of pain. and afterwards, it felt reaaaal good! haha. haven been able to walk properly for two months, and i felt relieved and relaxed after my "op".

one thing, that didnt go too well was that i forgot the need to disinfect my "tools".

one more thing, that totally gone bad was that after i cut out my nail from the inner side of my big toe, i went on to do the same for the outer side and guess what.

Yeah, its causing me pain now. DOTS. zzzzz.

Looks like my toe woes arent gonna end that soon. i was still expecting myself to be fit for a run this week.

looks like not. hais.

CULINARY ARTIST

YES! after much excitement and hype and anticipation from food-lovers all over the world, Play-Soc Eat-Lob has been awarded the CULINARY ARTIST award by Playfish!

HAHAHA (well of cos honestly who gives a damn besides the owner himself, me?)

After about two to three weeks of collecting ingredients after using up every single one of them for my first three ROYAL dishes, it had indeed been a long long wait. although i alr had the ingredients, there wer not enough slots for me and i decided that it would be very very shiok to upgrade all at one go. and true enough it WAS!! haha. damn shuang. from SIXTY (60) ingredients to ZERO (0).

During this short process of about 5 minutes perhaps (taking screenshots took time, if not it wld have been perhaps less den a minute) i "MENG CLICKED" the learn this dish button for lobster soup and banana split and poof! there we gooo! hahaha.

Okay. All right. That was cool. Hmm...

So now what..?

Bernard's Kitchen @ Loyang Point

Once again, i recommend Bernard's Kitchen, located at Loyang Point Food Court.

This is my second try from the stall, the first being humongous pork chop (http://gummm.blogspot.com/2009/02/big-pork-chop.html), which i highly recommended. Today, for lunch, i ordered the chicken chop and it was indeed satisfying. the portion is as usual HUGE and the fries, coleslaw that came along was worthy of my thumbs up too!!

For all living in the east, esp around pasir ris, it is a must try. =) No disappointments i guarantee.

Exciting Table Tennis Doubles

Saturday was table tennis time again, as justin could not get the badminton courts. haha. i booked 7 to 9 at first because when i called, the lady said only 7 to 9 one table is available. of cos i didnt believe! when we go there at 7 am normally there arent many ppl ard wad. ZZ. so when i went there to make payment in the morning, i was proven right indeed, and so i booked an extra table from 7 to 8 am. haha. at first its me and ben again who arrived first and started first.

When i was walking to grap a chair lying at the corner, i suddenly slipped and fell!! omg. landed backwards on my butt and elbow, of which my elbow still hurts now. ZZzz. wat i great start to the day. LOL. and my tshirt is a little sticky and dirty liao.

den we started playing singles in both tables when wx justin liow arrived, but afterwards from 8 onwards (as we were left with one table for the five of us) we changed to doubles instead. haha. i always thought doubles were a little bit more sian because the number of hits one make and the time the ball stays in play is much lower than singles! haha but incredibly it turned out otherwise. XD there was stiff competition and everyone improved, esp benjamin who improved tremendously as compared to the previous weeks. HAHAHA. thus, the standard of the game was much higher, with more rallies possible and tactics seen as well. hahaha. it was so fun we decided to go one further and book another hour till 10!

the "climax" of the day, i would think, is when we were left with the four of us (liow left and yingjie, hmm, lets just say she could not keep up w our standards/ too afraid to play). i teamed up with ben and wx with justin, and we played a few games and my side kept winning! hahaha. finally found my "good partner" to play in doubles HAHA and in the end only at the last moment last game did the opposite team win the game. by then it was 1030 am alr XDXD

haha, havent had such a great and fun time in table tennis for a long time, thanks guys! heee. hope to have another enjoyable time at the table tennis table soon.

Damn sian in my view the windows are perfectly alligned but it seems that when others view it its a different layout and its qt cui. =(

Positivity amongst Negativity

Yesterday's Chelsea VS Barcelona UCL semi-final was marred with tons of negativity, mostly of the chelsea side who condemned the referee. I have to say that it is very sad to see the beautiful game of soccer end up in such a way, focus being not on quality but on the dubious decisions the ref made in the match. However, i read this little piece of news on soccernet.com that gave me good reason to believe. It is touching indeed.

_________________

Meanwhile Barca coach Pep Guardiola has praised captain John Terry for his behaviour after last night's semi-final defeat.

Despite Terry's disappointment, he visited the Barcelona dressing room and shook hands with each member of their playing and coaching staff. It was an act of sportsmanship for which the Barca team and staff applauded him out of the room.

''I want to thank John Terry for coming into the dressing room and congratulating us,'' said Guardiola. ''He's a true gentleman.''

UCL semi-finals (1)

Arsenal - Man Utd

After completely dominating the first leg at home, Man Utd were just sitting back for a moment int he opening minutes, trying to get into the game. although the gunners had the possession in the opening minutes, it was man utd who scored first, against the run of play. CR cut the ball back in across the penalty area and sadly, Gibbs slipped and gifted a glorious opportunity for Park Ji Sung who finished the move clinically. i really feel sad for Gibbs because he had done very well against CR in the first leg and deserved better than this bad slice of luck.

3 minutes later, CR scored a free kick from a looooong way out, this time even further than the wonder goal against porto! amazing stuff that totally took Almunia off guard and beat him at his near post. by then, arsenal knew they needed a miracle. four goals wasnt what you would expect the man utd def to concede on such a night. arsenal played their passing game as usual and retained much possession but wasnt convincingly looking to score against VDS.

61 minute, and Man Utd put on a display of a perfect counter attack that put the finals way beyond arsenal. getting possession from a arsenal attack, Park got the ball from CR in man utd's half and and put advancing wayne rooney through on goal. instead of going for personal glory, Rooney selflessly waited while advancing until the moment CR chased all the way to the frontline and the latter executed a precise shot from rooney's precise pass. With the finals in the pocket, Fergie went on to bring off rooney and evra, both a card away from suspension.

All seems to be the perfect night for Man Utd as they still went forward and created a few chances. Even with more time on the ball, arsenal didnt look like they would get a goal, but played for dignity and was certainly applaudible for such performance after 4-0 down on aggregate. However, the talking point of the night came when fletcher seemingly took down Fabregas who was goal bound and was sent off. RVP converted the penalty with a well taken shot into the top left corner of VDS.

Of all ppl, you wouldnt expect darren fletcher to commit a foul worthy of a sending off, and it looks like he got the ball before bringing the arsenal captain down too. this was the only negative point fergie's team had for the wonderful night as they look on to retain the UCL trophy, without fletcher as part of their plans.

Gum's MOTM: Cristiano Ronaldo.
Some may say he is not his best this season compared to his 42 goal haul last season, but he is such an important player for man utd attack and he created one, scored two on this night. what else can u expect from him? for me, he can certainly score more against top clubs this season than last year. and for me this is perhaps his best game of the season YET.

Gum's Disappointing MOTM: Darren Fletcher.
Not that this performance was disappointing at all. With his energy and willingness to go for the ball, to defend and to attack, he deserves to be given a chance of playing in Rome. the only disappointment is the red card, which was too harsh for my liking.
