POTD 07-06-10

photo of us temps at farnell slacking away. hahaha. of cos im holding the camera so im not inside. but this is the slack time we could have at the 3rd day of work. on 7 june, right after my ten consecutive days of work at the energy challenge fair, i reported for work at farnell, which is a warehouse in ubi area.

this job position offered to me was TEMP WAREHOUSE ADMIN ASSISTANT, and altho i had expected some sort of admin duties, plus stockchecking and moving stuff from one warehse to the new on, as briefed during the job interview.

so we arrived at the company at abt 9am and then we just sat down thr, no one is there to receive us or tell us wad to do! zz. den after a while we were asked to follow a guy and after putting down our bags, we just went to the new warehouse, with no air con there and OMG. we were tasked to move huge pallets of goods from one side to another! and we used manual labour pulling and push the pallets on a pallet jack. the place was warm and the stuff heavy, we began sweating like dogs - in the first two hours of work as ADMIN ASSISTANT - such that we were soaked in our own sweat. totally =.= la.

luckily later on, it became better for me, but for one of the temps, he decided to quite within the first half day of work. LOL. and weiquan who was coincidentally working tgt w me was tasked with continuing with such labourous tasks and had a very bad start. we all had a bad start.

the thing is not that we cannot take the physical work, nor that we cannot take hardship, the thing is that we feel cheated! for me i was still okay with my tasks and jobscope, in the air conditioned warehouse its still comfortable. but then shouldnt recruit express make it clear in the first place of our jobscope instead of misleading us that there is data entry and admin work to be done! in the first call from my agent who refered me to this job, she even said it is admin job, maybe need to move goods a bit. OMTTT, its the other way round! its moving goods ALL THE TIME and no admin at all. waaaa. stupid right?

but actually, after the first few hours of madness, its okay now alr. we are doing less labour and physically demanding tasks, basically we just put items onto the warehouse shelves, reloacte certain items and stuff like this. manageable i would say. but the first day was reallllly sucky ttm.

haha now i think im going to see out the whole of my contrace since im okay with my job now, and also if i quit than i also wun look for another job then i would earn less income. haha. one of the temps have alr left. and weiquan is intending to quit earlier than the 3 weeks our contract stated.
