POTD 06-06-10

Although this blog entry is like entered five days later cos i am sooo lag in updating POTD, haha, 6 june was my last day of work at the energy challenge fair.

this is the first time im working at such an "event" type of job and i gotta say this experience is largely enjoyable! haha. v diff from wad i expected b4 working. the basic jobscope of me and my team at the ecf counter was to issue lucky draw coupons, get ppl to take part in the instant lucky dip and to like answer any queries abt stuff ard, plus conduct feedback for this fair.

at the start we were qt blur but as time went by i guess we all knew wat to do and wat to expect, and from then onwards its a much relaxing and easy job alr!

at this fair, i learnt how to communicate with the public better, and also able to converse more easily than b4. esp helpful since i became anti-social in NUS hahahhaa. cos of the nature of my job that requires me to be courteous and communicate with customers, i can now speak better english w/o much thought.

while collecting feedback: at first, i was rather laidback and not going all out like ben cos i feel this job is qt errr LOL and a bit shy also. plus i dunno who is the exhibitor who is the customer so i take aim den ask, not blindly asking everyone. after a while, i began to feel better abt doing so as i became more familiar with the place. of cos, im not very chiong becos i feel that chionging is not necessary for this task. but its a bit sad doing these surveys and knowing that the results will not be a fair and accurate reflection of the public's view of this fair at all.

having to talk to ppl is very interesting. haha i especially like to talk to frenly aunties as they will talk to u and ask u other qns, and it feels warm and frenly. some are v cute as well lol. also, when i hear ppl speaking in canto i would love to speak to them in cantonese as well, haha always love the feeling of conversing in my dialect as well! (:

while doing surveys, most ppl will either help, or to reject they will either walk away, smile, say thankyou/sorry/in a rush, or something. one of the BEST encounters i had was that i asked: hi sir do u mind helping me with a short survey? and he looks at me with a qian slap face and says: yes i mind. giving me a stare equivalent to the pkmn atk mean look. even tho it sux but i feel qt happy to see this kinda response haha not easy to collect this reply k!

another interesting aspect we all encountered is that some ppl just come to the fair LIKE ALMOST EVERYDAY. haha. i can recognise their faces la. they come to collect free gifts =.= hahahaha. and also cos of the instant draw held twice daily, they come with like sososo many pieces of newspaper cuttings, wanting to win the draw which is like worth abt 20 dollars. some household appliances like jug kettle and thermopot lol la. (but of cos everyone wants to win hahaha we also entered many times but nv win sian)

at the end of the day, this ten days of work, 11 hours a day, is made much better becos of the company i had. haha altho i was the one who is zihighing most of the time, i feel comfortable at our counter and looking out for eye candies at the fair made my time pass much happier!! haha not convenient to release too much info here tho. wee. having become more social here also brightens me up, talking to random ppl from other stalls and fair is qt interesting as well (:

i kinda miss this job still but oh wells, its a good experience, good money earned, and new frens made!! yayy (:
