Toe Woes.

I have been suffering quite badly from my toe woes recently. i rmbr i had this problem in jc once, but i didnt seem THAT bad, and it wasnt THAT bad. there were frequent blood stains on my socks but it was under control. i could even play bball then.

and i wonder why. having gone through numerous vest slack runs, SOCs, route marches, parades and other vigorous, physically-draining activities in army, there were no such problems faced. from bmt to sispec to eti to 30 sce to crescendo, my toe had been all right. only in the second year of my service, nearing AHM did i have this problem emerging serious enough for my concern. and after running and training for it for weeks, confident and satisfied to go for it, i had to miss running AHM due to my ingrown toenail (MO gave me excuse footwear) it took quite some time, in the end.

And into February came my worst nightmare (by far w.r.t. toe problems) when ingrown toenail eventually occured on both of my big toes. zzz. and it lasted all the way, until NOW. i believe it was due to my loose boots that i wear to work everyday that caused constant impact and thus damage to my toe.

I refused to visit the doctor, for i didnt really want the doc to cut my nail out. hmm. and so i waited and waited and waited and waited. there were no real signs of recovering until last week, when the pain subsided gradually.

Thus, on saturday, i decided to perform a mini operation on both of my toes. using a nail file and a nail clipper, i slowly, carefully, and with experience dug out part of my nail and cut it off. phew! it was painful, but i could contain that lvl of pain. and afterwards, it felt reaaaal good! haha. haven been able to walk properly for two months, and i felt relieved and relaxed after my "op".

one thing, that didnt go too well was that i forgot the need to disinfect my "tools".

one more thing, that totally gone bad was that after i cut out my nail from the inner side of my big toe, i went on to do the same for the outer side and guess what.

Yeah, its causing me pain now. DOTS. zzzzz.

Looks like my toe woes arent gonna end that soon. i was still expecting myself to be fit for a run this week.

looks like not. hais.

During this short process of about 5 minutes perhaps (taking screenshots took time, if not it wld have been perhaps less den a minute) i "MENG CLICKED" the learn this dish button for lobster soup and banana split and poof! there we gooo! hahaha.

Bernard's Kitchen @ Loyang Point

Once again, i recommend Bernard's Kitchen, located at Loyang Point Food Court.

This is my second try from the stall, the first being humongous pork chop (http://gummm.blogspot.com/2009/02/big-pork-chop.html), which i highly recommended. Today, for lunch, i ordered the chicken chop and it was indeed satisfying. the portion is as usual HUGE and the fries, coleslaw that came along was worthy of my thumbs up too!!

For all living in the east, esp around pasir ris, it is a must try. =) No disappointments i guarantee.

Rating: 4.5/5 gummies

Exciting Table Tennis Doubles

Saturday was table tennis time again, as justin could not get the badminton courts. haha. i booked 7 to 9 at first because when i called, the lady said only 7 to 9 one table is available. of cos i didnt believe! when we go there at 7 am normally there arent many ppl ard wad. ZZ. so when i went there to make payment in the morning, i was proven right indeed, and so i booked an extra table from 7 to 8 am. haha. at first its me and ben again who arrived first and started first.

When i was walking to grap a chair lying at the corner, i suddenly slipped and fell!! omg. landed backwards on my butt and elbow, of which my elbow still hurts now. ZZzz. wat i great start to the day. LOL. and my tshirt is a little sticky and dirty liao.

den we started playing singles in both tables when wx justin liow arrived, but afterwards from 8 onwards (as we were left with one table for the five of us) we changed to doubles instead. haha. i always thought doubles were a little bit more sian because the number of hits one make and the time the ball stays in play is much lower than singles! haha but incredibly it turned out otherwise. XD there was stiff competition and everyone improved, esp benjamin who improved tremendously as compared to the previous weeks. HAHAHA. thus, the standard of the game was much higher, with more rallies possible and tactics seen as well. hahaha. it was so fun we decided to go one further and book another hour till 10!

the "climax" of the day, i would think, is when we were left with the four of us (liow left and yingjie, hmm, lets just say she could not keep up w our standards/ too afraid to play). i teamed up with ben and wx with justin, and we played a few games and my side kept winning! hahaha. finally found my "good partner" to play in doubles HAHA and in the end only at the last moment last game did the opposite team win the game. by then it was 1030 am alr XDXD

haha, havent had such a great and fun time in table tennis for a long time, thanks guys! heee. hope to have another enjoyable time at the table tennis table soon.

Damn sian in my view the windows are perfectly alligned but it seems that when others view it its a different layout and its qt cui. =(

Positivity amongst Negativity

Yesterday's Chelsea VS Barcelona UCL semi-final was marred with tons of negativity, mostly of the chelsea side who condemned the referee. I have to say that it is very sad to see the beautiful game of soccer end up in such a way, focus being not on quality but on the dubious decisions the ref made in the match. However, i read this little piece of news on soccernet.com that gave me good reason to believe. It is touching indeed.

_________________

Meanwhile Barca coach Pep Guardiola has praised captain John Terry for his behaviour after last night's semi-final defeat.

Despite Terry's disappointment, he visited the Barcelona dressing room and shook hands with each member of their playing and coaching staff. It was an act of sportsmanship for which the Barca team and staff applauded him out of the room.

''I want to thank John Terry for coming into the dressing room and congratulating us,'' said Guardiola. ''He's a true gentleman.''

UCL semi-finals (1)

Arsenal - Man Utd

After completely dominating the first leg at home, Man Utd were just sitting back for a moment int he opening minutes, trying to get into the game. although the gunners had the possession in the opening minutes, it was man utd who scored first, against the run of play. CR cut the ball back in across the penalty area and sadly, Gibbs slipped and gifted a glorious opportunity for Park Ji Sung who finished the move clinically. i really feel sad for Gibbs because he had done very well against CR in the first leg and deserved better than this bad slice of luck.

3 minutes later, CR scored a free kick from a looooong way out, this time even further than the wonder goal against porto! amazing stuff that totally took Almunia off guard and beat him at his near post. by then, arsenal knew they needed a miracle. four goals wasnt what you would expect the man utd def to concede on such a night. arsenal played their passing game as usual and retained much possession but wasnt convincingly looking to score against VDS.

61 minute, and Man Utd put on a display of a perfect counter attack that put the finals way beyond arsenal. getting possession from a arsenal attack, Park got the ball from CR in man utd's half and and put advancing wayne rooney through on goal. instead of going for personal glory, Rooney selflessly waited while advancing until the moment CR chased all the way to the frontline and the latter executed a precise shot from rooney's precise pass. With the finals in the pocket, Fergie went on to bring off rooney and evra, both a card away from suspension.

All seems to be the perfect night for Man Utd as they still went forward and created a few chances. Even with more time on the ball, arsenal didnt look like they would get a goal, but played for dignity and was certainly applaudible for such performance after 4-0 down on aggregate. However, the talking point of the night came when fletcher seemingly took down Fabregas who was goal bound and was sent off. RVP converted the penalty with a well taken shot into the top left corner of VDS.

Of all ppl, you wouldnt expect darren fletcher to commit a foul worthy of a sending off, and it looks like he got the ball before bringing the arsenal captain down too. this was the only negative point fergie's team had for the wonderful night as they look on to retain the UCL trophy, without fletcher as part of their plans.

Gum's MOTM: Cristiano Ronaldo.
Some may say he is not his best this season compared to his 42 goal haul last season, but he is such an important player for man utd attack and he created one, scored two on this night. what else can u expect from him? for me, he can certainly score more against top clubs this season than last year. and for me this is perhaps his best game of the season YET.

Gum's Disappointing MOTM: Darren Fletcher.
Not that this performance was disappointing at all. With his energy and willingness to go for the ball, to defend and to attack, he deserves to be given a chance of playing in Rome. the only disappointment is the red card, which was too harsh for my liking.

tennis, table tennis

Yday night after work, went Kevin’s house to meet up for a game of tennis with Edmund and kokhou. Haha. The term game of tennis is not very accurate, as we are all not pro in tennis and just aimed to cross the ball over to the other side of the court. Haha, not abiding by the rules most of the time. Honestly, yday’s game wasn’t that enjoyable, probably due to our skill level and also being tired from work. Haha haven seen Kevin for qt some time but no surprise he is still the same pattern. LOL. And those who know him, esp those in my bunk would probably understand very well haha. Although I missed out half an episode of PPY (second half watched at his hse) it was a good day overall. Wats better than “working out” a little after work and seeing kevin’s yellow oh I mean grayish yellow singlet? XDXD

Tonight confirm will watch PPY though, and tmr morning table tennis @ tampines! Really looking fwd to that. I definitely like ping pong better than tennis. Haha. Doesn’t require that much strength, easier to control and im better at it hahhaa. Lets see what tricks ben have up his sleeves tmr (although I dun think he can improve that much to overtake Justin).

Ping ping pang pang….

Thursday, April 23, 2009

Hahaha it has been really looooong since I last blogged. The reason (besides laziness) is that I dun really like my blog skin hahhaa. I love the part that I can personalize it, but the words are too small and not conducive for reading o.O and im not pro enough to know how to change that. So perhaps I will be changing my skin in a while.

Anws, have just been working and facebooking these days. Lol. Nothing baodian happened recently. Haha. My interest for table tennis is reignited after watching the ping pang yuan show on chn 8 9 pm weekdays. Haha. At first I despise the show even before it was aired and din watch the first few eps. Until we were at yingjie’s hse doing wenxiang’s ulti-cool board that I heard the then-disgusting ping ping pang pang song! Haha It totally sounded like shit. LOL. Then, only Justin watched the show. But the next week I began to show interest in listening to how the song really was with the lyrics and all. And actually it is still okay! Haha and I watched the ep and its not too bad. Then, I got hooked onto it and the song is my favourite, and I look fwd to watching PPY every night! And to add on to that, we played ping pong recently (XCT) and last Sunday morning we went again, along with the ping pang yuan wind. Hahaha. Yea I like to play table tennis! And we are going again this Saturday morning XD

Just started playing restaurant city on fb as well. Haha. So-so game. Chain rxn I played two days ago and got an incredible high score of 48 million! Oh gosh that was really lucky but it had to be my tactic that led to this score ultimately. But theres still a friend who has a higher score than me, 52 million LOL. Im sian of watching the balls flying ard alr. As I put on my fb status yday: got bored looking at 55 small balls moving in random directions in a box; hoping that they collide with the big ball(s) in a certain way he fancies; keeps looking at the flying balls even though he knows that the moment he clicked his mouse to create the first big ball there is nothing he could do to affect the final outcome. XD

NV BLOG AGAIN!

hai, nv blog again. sian. for now i shall just post one fb note that i wrote earlier today!

Click here to view fb note!

OR, just read here:
_________

Facebook is MADNESS. When I started using fb for the first time, it was SUPERPOKE, SUPERWALL, ZOMBIE games. Then came GEO CHALLENGE & friends. Recently, it started with NOTES games. 25 random things about me. How asian are you? etc.

But I have done none of those. (except of cos throwing sheep at my friends and remembering the flag of BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA and the map of MOZAMBIQUE)

Today I am gg to try out writing a note and see if it actually works. And being me, I have to come out with something unconventional.

From a tender age, I have been obsessed with “counting” and “numbers”. (Pri Sch:) I rmbr our HEALTH EDUCATION tchr told us that “We must drink 8 cups of water a day.” And I drew up a recording list beside my desk to track my drinking progress. Hahaha. Everyday I forced myself to drink as much as I can, the record was abt 17 / 18 cups! This is just one eg.

OKAY THE ABOVE IS JUST INTRO, NOT IMPT.

Anw, my QN of the day is:

So, HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU PEE AT WORK / IN SCHOOL / AT WORK (PER DAY) ?

I guess nobody ever bothers to count? Lol. Well, I did. Today I experimented with this idea. Usually, I use the same old urinal at the toilet beside my office. And I suddenly thought, why not I use all four? And another idea crossed my mind, if I use the urinals one at a time, from right to left for today, then I would be able to track the number of times I pee-ed in a single day at work, not including toilet trips at home / outside of course, with ease.

The count for today is SEVEN. OMG that’s a lot! Hahaha what is yours? I wouldn’t, in my wildest imagination, think that someone could actually answer my question now. Haha, why not you count tmr? Feel free to just comment, anyone who sees this note.

Thanks for your time and attention, and hopefully comments and likes. Hahaha.
